This morning DC was hit with a nasty bout of thunder storms with lightning and thunder that actually shook buildings. The thunder was so tumultuous that it was heard in DC, parts of Maryland, and parts of Northern Virginia. The resounding booms and shakes definitely startled the DMV area.
It also elicited a particular reaction on Twitter. It would seem that whenever a DC citizen hears a loud noise that can be heard everywhere, the first assumption (more so fear) is a terrorist attack. This is understandable considering the level of paranoia the September 11th attacks have left on citizens of DC, but it’s an interesting first reaction.
